Paul Bruce Dickinson, better known simply as Bruce Dickinson, or affectionately "The Air Raid Siren" by fans, is most famous for being the lead singer of Iron Maiden. Lesser known, yet still impressive, is his wide variety of other talents and pursuits both within and without the music world. Bruce Dickinson is a man worthy of admiration, both for his powerful voice as well as his ingenuity and determination for mastering each of his myriad passions. With a prolific solo musical career, published writing, and a tremendous variety of aviation-related work, Dickinson has been a man who has rarely taken a break from accomplishment throughout his life.

  • Dickison has received an honorary Music Doctorate from Queen Mary College.
  • Despite being known for his quasi-operatic range and control, Dickinson has never received any vocal training.
  • Dickinson is an avid fencer, and has competed internationally in the sport. Iron Maiden's Powerslave album features a song "Flash of the Blade" about the topic.
  • Dickinson is a licensed airline pilot and has flown commercially as well as for other incidents such as airlifting UK citizens out of Lebanon during the Israel/Hezbollah conflict.
  • Bruce Dickinson quit Iron Maiden in 1993 to focus on his solo career, and many in the metal community consider the 4 albums he released before his reunion with Maiden in 1999 to be of higher quality than what Iron Maiden released during that time.
  • Bruce Dickinson is not THE Bruce Dickinson character from the famous "more cowbell" sketch.
  • Dickinson was not actually an original member of Iron Maiden, and left his band Samson to join Maiden for their third album in 1982. Despite this, he is consider the definitive Iron Maiden singer, and the first five albums they released with him are considered undeniable classics by the heavy metal community.
  • In 2013, Iron Maiden collaborated with a brewery to create a Maiden-themed beer called Trooper (named after a famous Maiden song.) Dickinson was heavily personally involved in making the formula.
  • Dickinson joined heavy metal band Samson in 1979, and released two albums with them. He was nicknamed "Bruce Bruce."
  • Starting with The Adventures of Lord Iffy Boatrace, Dickinson has published two satirical comedy novels.
  • Taking his interest in aviation further, Dickison has founded a successful aircraft maintenance company, and has appeared in and hosted aviation documentaries.
  • In 2015, Dickinson was diagnosted with cancer on his tongue. After chemotherapy, he was able to fully recover. That same year, Iron Maiden released their 16th studio album The Book of Souls, and shortly departed for another World Tour, with Dickinson piloting the bands airplane. The tour grossed over 50 million dollars.
